Wild Brown Trout, Driffield Beck, East Yorkshire

Paul, Bob and Ted head to the historic chalk stream of Driffield Beck in East Yorkshire, hoping to catch a wild brown trout, and Ted is spruced up in a local poodle parlour, much to his dismay.

Paul and Bob try the ancient Japanese fishing method of Tenkara.

Blakeney Point, Norfolk

Paul, Bob and Ted face the elements head on as they fish on the beach at Blakeney Point, taking refuge in Bear’s Cottage for the night to dry out. Perhaps the most extreme - and wet - fishing they have experienced. The following day they enjoy a more relaxed session with a tasty picnic.

Bob and Paul travel overseas for an all-out Irish fishing trip - it's their first time fishing the rivers of both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

They are targeting salmon and the excitement on the rivers reach fever pitch. They stay in a delightful fishing lodge, owned by a very famous pop singer.

Paul, Bob and terrier Ted travel to Nottingham to fish the mighty river Trent for Barbel.

They stay in a memorable party house and invite a very special guest to join them, none other than Tony Blackburn.

Perch, River Ouse, Bedfordshire

Paul, Bob and Ted fish the River Ouse in Bedfordshire hoping to catch a big Perch.

Bob makes Paul a dinner he will never forget and even Ted can’t palate it! They stay at a quaint riverside cottage on the Turvey estate.

Grayling, River Frome, Dorset

Paul, Bob and Ted travel to Dorset to fish the River Frome for Grayling before turning their hand to mackerel fishing on Chesil beach. They stay at the ’Short House’ moments away from the famous shores of Chesil beach.

Wild Brown Trout, River Itchen, Hampshire

Paul takes Bob to one of his favourite rivers to fly fish. As it's Paul's birthday week, Bob has arranged an extra fishing session at their accommodation – a secluded lodge on a fishing lake.

Paul catches up with an old friend, actor and fellow angler James Murray, who is campaigning to save the precious salmon which are fast declining in our chalk streams.

*No fish* Rochdale Canal, Manchester and River Dane, Cheshire

Paul, Bob and Ted have a change of scene and try urban fishing on the Rochdale Canal in the centre of Manchester, where Bob spent his seminal years here, as a student and then as a lawyer.

Bob has arranged for them to stay in a posh high-rise apartment in the heart of the city

Series 8 Episode 5

Carp & Tope, Ceredigion,
Wales

Bob is taking Paul to Ceredigion on the western Welsh coast, as he is on a mission to try to catch a tope, a rare species of shark. First though, they fish a carp lake, designed for anglers of all abilities and stay in a unique cliff top abode.

Sea Trout, Rivers Towy and Cothi, Carmarthenshire

This is a trip down memory lane for Paul, as he re-visits the beautiful rivers Towy and Cothi in South Wales, where he used to fish with his father. Bob’s choice of accommodation is suitably retro too.

Paul and Bob try night fishing for the first time, as this is the best time for prime sea trout.

Series 8 Episode 4

Perch, Birley Lake and River Wye,
Herefordshire

Paul and Bob are determined to catch a big Perch and head to Herefordshire where they hope their best chances lie. They revisit the Wye, Bob’s favourite river and Ted gets a specially arranged canine massage in their overnight accommodation.

Salmon, River Findhorn,
Scottish Highlands

Paul taking Bob to one of his favourite rivers, the Findhorn on the Cawdor Estate. They’re on a quest to catch a summer salmon. The last time they tried in the previous series in Ireland, Bob lost the fish of a lifetime – and Paul still hasn’t forgiven him. Only time will tell if Bob can try and redeem himself in this magnificent river.
